In honor of “National Limerick Day” on Wednesday, May 12th, The Book Shelf will be hosting its First Annual Limerick Contest. The Book Shelf will be accepting original, clean limericks through May 12th. Winona’s Poet Laureate, Ken McCullough will be helping The Book Shelf staff judge the submissions. The winner will be announced on Thursday, June 3rd. The winner will receive a $40 gift card to The Book Shelf and will be crowned Winona’s Lord/Lady of the Limerick.
A contest took place at The Book Shelf
Limericks were due by May twelfth
The ones we preferred
Used interesting words
And rhymed with great cunning and stealth
The Book Shelf is Winona’s locally-owned, independent book store serving readers since 2002.

Now we all can together
In summer's fair weather
Celebrate Beethoven and Shakespeare
